Education Crisis Consultant Hanna Stotland (whose appearance on RadioLab we recently discussed) appeared recently on Amanpour & Co., a PBS show which describes itself as featuring

…wide-ranging, in-depth conversations with global thought leaders and cultural influencers on the issues and trends impacting the world each day, from politics, business and technology to arts, science and sports.

In this episode, Hanna discusses with journalist Michel Martin (NPR, ABC News) her work with students in getting them back on track after a crisis that interrupts their access to an education. She is adept at working with families of students who are wrongly accused and removed from academia. She summarizes her work in these terms:

The main thing I do for them is help them make a plan for how to continue their education after this interruption, and help them talk about the problem on their record in a way that gives them a shot at a second chance.

This episode is excellent because it shows how Hanna both describes the need for her work, and also because Michel makes sure to ask critical questions that skeptical viewers would have in mind.
