Weโ€™ve expanded the scope of ourย Title IX Lawsuits Databaseย to include a new data category: โ€œPlaintiff Demographics.โ€ You will now be able to search and sort all ~650 (and future) lawsuits by:

  • The plaintiffโ€™s occupational status, e.g., whether they are (or were) an accused student, school employee, or non-student.
  • The plaintiffโ€™s race/ethnicity, e.g., Caucasian, African American, Hispanic/Latino, and so forth.
  • The plaintiffโ€™s sex.
  • Whether the plaintiff is an immigrant / foreign student.

We have also included demographic data for lawsuits that include multiple plaintiffs. Where demographic data was unobtainable, we marked such data as unknown (โ€œRace unknown,โ€ โ€œStatus unknown,โ€ โ€œSex unknownโ€).

Those signed up to our database will see the option to search by Plaintiff Demographics when Advanced Search is enabled.ย Here is a screenshot of the search engine.

Additionally, demographic data is now available on each lawsuitโ€™s โ€œDetailโ€ page, just below the plaintiffโ€™s name. Here is an example inย Byron v. University of Utah et al.

Using this data, we can get an approximation of the demographic makeup of these lawsuits in general. Please expect a special announcement on this to follow soon.
