Visitย this Change.org petitionย calling for the removal of Bahar Mustafa!ย The above graphic was added toย the compilation page โThe Face of Misandry in Academia.โย Check it out!
I remember what it was like to work construction, back before my teaching days and when I was trying to offset my college costs. A friend of mine named Daniel, whom I was working with at the time, prided himself on being a smartass.
One day he told me โ with his classic mischievous grin โย โIsnโt it amazing how you can be a total ass to some people, and then simply say โjust kiddingโย and everythingโs ok? I mean, you can walk up to a guy and say โHey man, your girlfriend and I had a great time in bed yesterdayโฆjust kidding!โ Or โdude, I just want to let you know Iโve always thought you were an idiotโฆjust kidding!’โ
Of course, he was making fun of people who basically walk around verbally sucker punching peopleย and then trying to excuse themselves from well-merited retaliation by saying โjust kidding.โ
Something similar could be said ofย the โironic misandryโ (as feminist Amanda Hess atย Slateย puts it) of Bahar Mustafa. What is ironic misandry?ย According to Hessย it is:
a tongue-in-cheek form of discourse favored by the young feminist internet natives. You may have spied them on Twitter or Tumblr, working on their โKILL ALL MENโ cross-stitch or sipping from a mug labeled โMALE TEARS.โ Ironic misandrists say theyโre poking fun at long-standing stereotypes about militant feminist man-haters.
Feminist Amanda Hess is giving us this definition of โironicโ misandry because she is defending the statements of feminist Bahar Mustafa (pictured above), the recently-electedย welfare and diversity officer for Goldsmith Universityโs student union. To kick off a โdiversityโ event, Mustafaย said on Facebookย โif youโre a man and/or white PLEASE DONโT COME. Donโt worry lads we will give you and allies things to doโ and posted the above picture of herself next to a picture of a cup that said โmale tears.โ
Mustafaย also had an โironicโ feminist tendency of tweeting with the hashtag #killallwhitemen.
We are supposed to believe it โironicโ that a feminist would do such a thing. I must confess, folks, Iโm shocked โย shocked I tell youย โ that a feminist would even consider it. If by โconsider itโ you mean โdo it all the time.ย In case youโve forgotten:
The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.
That quoteย comes from feminist professorย Sally Gearhart in her article โThe Future โ If There Is One โ Is Female.โ Quite โironically,โ this violence-promoting quote was featured in a later book promoting nonviolence which was titledย Reweaving the Web of Life: Feminism andย Nonviolenceย (page 266, if you need it).
Another โironicโ quote:
I think itโs not a bad idea at all. If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males.
This one comes fromย Dr. Mary Daly, the professor who segregated and excluded males from her classroom (funny how much of a recurring theme that is lately). This was her response when asked what she thought of the above quote by Dr. Gearhart inย an interview byย EnlightenNext Magazine.
And isnโt it โironicโ that the magazine is calledย EnglightenNext? Does Dr. Daly seem enlightened to you? She did to a lot of her colleagues.
These are just a sample of statements we have compiled onย our compilation page โThe Language of Misandry in Academia.โย We must ask: is itย ironic to see such statements coming from feminists? I mean, itโs not like they have acquiredย aย reputation for that kind of thing, right?
Where else have we seen theย โironicโ misandry of excluding men on the basis of sex?ย Oh yes โ very recently, we sawย the poster below at the University of Queensland, courtesy of theย โironicโ feminists there:
Yes,ย theย practice of excluding men here follows the same spirit as that of Bahar Mustafa. โCoincidentally,โ of course.
Hereโs another Ironic Feministโข burning copies of Dr. Christina Hoff-Sommersโsย The War Against Boysย (we wrote about it here):
More Ironic Feminismโขย can be seen here, courtesy of the UCLA student group Bruin Feminists for Equality:
This is totally not sexist. In much the same way that it is not racist to walk around asking random black people not to steal.
The below brand of Ironic Feminismโข has been featured atย over sixty colleges and universitiesย duringย mandatoryย anti-rape orientation for first-year students (in some casesย only males were required to attend these):
What a coincidence โ Dr. Keith Edwards (the man above) is a feminist! Here is his article โWhy Feminism is in my best interest as a man.โย How ironic that he would say that!
Did anyone trulyย find it ironic that feminists presumed the guilt of the men accused of rape duringย the 2006 Duke lacrosse rape hoax, theย 2013 Ohio U rape hoax, and hundreds of others? Did anyone find it โironicโ that, after theย UVA / Rolling Stone rape hoax unraveled, feminist Zerlina Maxwell wrote an article forย The Washington Postย saying that โno matter whatโย we should automatically believe rapeย accusers? Here it is:
Did anyoneย think it โunexpectedโ and โout of characterโ for feminist and mainstream media writer (The Guardian)ย Jessica Valenti, commenting on that same hoax, to tweet:
Did anyoneย seriously not see these kinds of thingsย coming from a feminist? Did it hit anyone out of the blue? Was anyone never informed that feminists have an unfortunate tendency to behave in this way?
No, Amanda Hess โ Iโm afraid we have seen much โironicโ feminism around here. So much that we have become very well acquainted with it.
Ah, but I must add the disclaimer thatย no,ย not all feminists are like that.ย No, not all feminists are narrow-minded, sexist, humorless troglodytes. In much the same way that not all the grass is green and not all the sky is blue.
Hereโs whatโs ironic: today, many advocates of โdiversityโ in academia have transitioned from a spirit of moral indignation toย unvarnished bigotry, justifying their corruption with the notionย ofย โtwo wrongs make a rightโฆbut only when Iโm the one doing it.โย They thenย rationalize their stranglehold over the conversation on equity and diversity by claiming continuity with a value system that they โ more than simply abandoning โ haveย betrayed.
Bahar Mustafa is such a person. And so are the many people that we catalog and call out on this platform.
Over twenty thousand people have signed a petitionย for Bahar Mustafa to be called to account. It is quite obvious that she lacks the proper fit for her position as welfare and diversity officer. I am not sure if even this many signatures will unseat her, but one thing we can credit this petition with doing is raising the public profile of Mustafaโs bigotry.
So whatโs the takeaway?ย As Iโve said before,ย misandry in academia is not merely a collection of infrequent and disassociated anomalies arising from individuals uninfluenced by supportive or acquiescent peer groups. On the contrary, it is culturally pervasive in academia in a way that cannot be reasonably characterized as incidental or coincidental.
And as I said last time, itโs long past time we start opposing it.

“The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.”
That quote actually comes from Lois Waisbrooker (1893). A Sex Revolution. Little Baha is not as original or as well read as she thinks! -
Sorry to say that Bahar is still at her job, after a petition for a referendum on her continued employment failed. The idea that this needs to go to a petition, and that it is possible to hold a public job despite continued, vicious hatred expressed towards men and whites, is contemptible.
Bahar is what we call a reparations feminist, a feminist that claims all men are responsible for the suffering of all women, and therefore all women are entitled to express hatred against men under any circumstances, and are entitled to discriminate freely against men. Since this isn’t entirely acceptable just yet, the hatred is masked as “ironic misandry.”
Bahar claims that as a black woman, she literally cannot be racist or sexist. The oppression of women, considered in ignorance of the oppression or suffering of men and especially white men, entitles her–or so she believes–to freely express hatred for men and whites whenever she likes, even those men and those whites who have never harmed women or minorities.
In allowing her to keep her public position, as a diversity officer no less, the UK government has made it clear: Hatred for men and hatred for whites is eminently acceptable, and may be expressed by government employees without fear of consequence.

Bahar is what we call a narrow minded female chauvinist jackass.

Perhaps feminists are simply too dense to understand the definition of the word ironic. If, for instance, your trying to fix a leaky faucet and you break the faucet and water gushes all over the place, that’s ironic. Since this particular idiocy was done with the intent to get the exact reaction it gets, it is 100% not ironic.

“I must add the disclaimer that no, not all feminists are like that”
It’s your website but I don’t see a need for that disclaimer at all. When I say “I like dogs” I don’t add “except for the ones that attack and bite people.”. Those are so rare that there’s no reason to mention them.

I agree, I was being sarcastic.

Just wanted to say thanks. Some of the info here helped me when formulating some arguments just moments ago. I.E. I mistakenly thought it was from Daly that the 10% men quote came from.

The typical feminist “minority” hypocrite demands that Daddy pay for her college tuition and gladly accepts scholarships made possible by white men.

Both Bahar Mustafa and Dr. Mary Daly are standard bearers of intolerance and ignorance

That girl’s so dog ugly who gives a shit unless she’s raping you ?

Thanks for this. That term ‘ironic misandry’ really irks me, when it’s nothing of the sort.
As we move further towards Duluth-style models it’s clear that women can be aggressors without consequence or punishment and men can be victims but without the recognition or support.
